ABOUT THE COVER
This book is about the kingdom of God and his plan since creation for humankind and the world to fully live.
A person cannot physically live without water, nor can they fully live as God intends without the Spirit of God. Throughout Scripture, the Spirit of God is often symbolized by water. In Ezekiel 47 it is water flowing from the sanctuary of God to bring life and healing to the world. In Isaiah 44 it is a stream bringing water to dry and thirsty ground. In John 7 it is Jesus proclaiming a day when rivers of living water will flow from within those who believe in him.
I asked my daughter, Rebecca, for a related design idea, and while she was thinking and praying, she said this painting she had done several years ago kept coming to her.
The painting is a cityscape of Phoenix, Arizona, looking south toward the surrounding mountains. Phoenix is a vibrant thriving city in the middle of a barren hot desert only because it taps into water sources that flow from distant reservoirs.
Rebecca added the streams symbolically. She said what look like flames on South Mountain were supposed to be the cell tower lights. She always wished she had painted over them, but I appreciate the added symbolism.
